Why do we remember some things better than others? How is remembering how to drive different from remembering how you celebrated your last birthday? Would you rather not be able to remember anything about your past or be able to remember your past, but not be able to form new memories as you go forward in life? In this topic, we start looking at encoding and retrieval for long-term memory. This topic is very interactive! To get what you need out of it, make sure you do all of the demonstrations. If you skip them, you will not have a solid an understanding as you need. Experiencing them makes all the difference! |
You should go through each Lesson and watch the videos, do the activities and demonstrations, etc. Our main goals are to:
- Identify differnt types of long term memory.
- Examine the factors involved in encoding information into memory.
- Examine the factors involved in retrieving information from memory.
Remember:
- Study questions are included throughout each Lesson. Look for the questions in italics.
- Lesson headings are more or less in line with the structure of your textbook to help you better integrate the online module with the text. If a major section is skipped in the online module, we are not covering that section and you can just skim through it when reading the text.
